Edible Flowers at Moss Memorial Library

Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. Master Gardener Carolyn Krueger will present a program on Edible Flowers. She will discuss some of the many ways one can incorporate these colorful and tasty additions into everyday dishes to enhance their culinary appeal. She will bring in examples from some of her favorites for attendees to sample. She will share recipes and their sources and where she obtained her flowers. A list of edible flowers and those flowers considered to be unsafe to eat will be available for everyone.

Carolyn moved to Clay County 6 1/2 years ago from Decatur, Georgia. Shortly after her arrival she started a speaker program at Moss Memorial Library. She has enticed most of the individuals who represent programs for her Smith and Hawken's retail store in Atlanta, plus many others, to venture to the mountains of Western North Carolina to share their expertise.

As a Master Gardener transfer from Dekalb County, Carolyn has supported the Cooperative Extension Service for the past 6 years in their efforts to launch and organize an active and beneficial Master Gardener program in Clay County. She has presented her Hummingbird program on numerous occasions to different community groups and plans to continue sharing her knowledge with others through the creation of new gardening and nature presentations.
